Pot Roasts For The Lamb Center

**Currently cooking for: May 19, 2026**

We make a monthly pot roast lunch for 125 people at The Lamb Center every 3rd Tuesday. The Lamb Center is a day shelter for homeless men and women in Fairfax. We will need THIRTEEN Pot Roasts for their guests! Recipe below, or click here.

You can help in one of 5 ways...

1)
Prepare & Deliver Uncooked. Assemble the pot roast recipe (below), including placing the meat, carrots, potatoes, and dry onion soup into the cooking bag. Do NOT add the Coke; we'll add it right before we cook it. Deliver items to CPC by 9:00 am the day prior to the 3rd Tuesday so we can cook it in the church ovens. Or, bring it to church with you on Sunday.

2) Cook & Deliver Hot on Delivery Day. Prepare, cook and deliver to CPC on the morning of delivery day, hot and ready to go before departure from CPC at 10:15am.

3) Prepare, Cook & Deliver Frozen. No need to sign-up. Bring to CPC, label and put in the kitchen freezer. We will thaw and reheat when needed.

4) Be a Delivery Driver to transport the hot meals to the Lamb Center. Sign up here.

5) Drop off water - we need 3 cases each month delivered to CPC. Sign up here.

Easy Pot Roast Recipe

3-4 lb. pot roast (rump roast is the best option because it's leaner, less fat)

2 pkg. Lipton onion soup mix

2  small bags of red potatoes, washed

2  small bags of baby carrots

1  12 oz. can Coke "classic"

1  Cooking bag

1   Heavy duty aluminum casserole pan

Instructions if delivering Uncooked: Put roast in cooking bag. Sprinkle with onion soup mix and veggies. Do NOT add the Coke. Close bag and place in a heavy duty aluminum casserole pan. Bring coke and pan with bagged ingredients to CPC by 7:30am on the third Tuesday, or bring it to church with you on Sunday. We will cook it for you!

Instructions if Cooking: Put roast in cooking bag. Sprinkle with onion soup mix, add the Coke and veggies. Place bag and contents in a heavy duty aluminum casserole pan. Close bag and then cut small hole in bag. Cook for 3 hours at 350 degrees. Cover with foil to keep warm. Deliver hot on the third Tuesday before we depart at 10am. If Freezing: let stand to cool, freeze, and deliver to CPC for a future month (CPC will thaw and reheat when needed).
